Save our Nhs demo Manchester

Travelled to Manchester today along with 50,000 others from all areas of the UK to shout at the Tories with focus being to “save our NHS” The majority of people there travelled by way of connection to Trade Unions, anti cuts groups, Peoples Assembly etc. Whilst enjoyable, large and noisy the question still comes to mind of what effect Tuc sanitised demos such as this achieve especially as you wander back to the coach amongst the debris of mass produced placards and the latest union branded plastic giveaway( on this occasion football rattles). This is not the first time and won’t be the last l march and protest in this way I’m sure but I’m looking forward to seeing the result of the call by the Peoples Assembly for November 5th to be a bonfire of austerity and a day of civil disobedience. It will be interesting to see what imaginative and alternative ways people will think of venting their anger.
